The 3rd petrochemical plant fire in 17 days in the Houston has prompted yet another huge plume of toxic fumes and caused a strict emergency shelter-in-place to be enforced.
An explosion has been reporter for at the Chemco petrochemicals plant on Ramsey Road in Crosby, near Houston on Tuesday. Officials advised those within a 1-mile radius of the plant to shelter in place.
One death at the has been confirmed along with two injuries according to Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
Crosby ISD has reported that they’ve turned off their HVAC systems district-wide so as not to risk filtering in contaminated air from the explosion.
Shelton ISD has reported that activities will continue as normal as they are not within the vicinity of the advised shelter in place.
